I have seen God
Austin Thornton
I have seen God,
they are the wind’s fingers
pressing on my arm
they are Mt. Saint Helens watching
they are the tide that carries
sand crabs from the sea
And they have shown us
burning floods, obsidian remains;
We have dug ourselves
into that old wreckage
and seen that we are both the lizards
and the meteor.
