Chalk pastels on sidewalk by Fiona Daley
Fiona Daley
Biography: I am a multimedia artist who believes that art is life, as both vitality and purpose. The mediums I work with include music, songs, poetry, photography, videography, illustration, painting, and more. Being born and raised in a small and insular Montana town, I developed unconditional love for the environment, despite its uncertainty and occasional cruelty. This environment is where my roots were grown. From these roots often comes work that expresses my love, conflict, and connection to nature and places.
Artist Statement: An image that came to me out of nowhere, but depicts the “cutthroat” attitude of living in the mountains. The forces at play are swift and strong and ever-flowing, as you too must be in order to survive them. They are also magical and wondrous and tranquil. It is a mystical and brutal paradox and my first time trying chalk pastels at such a large and complex scale.
