It’s the beginning of the 2025-26 school year, which means new editors and new visions for the magazine ahead! Last year’s edition of PRISM, “Roots” (read here), was an incredible success due to the talent and care of its editors, Brynne Boehlecke and Shoshana Groom — so, we’d like to introduce the editors that will be taking over that legacy.
Leading our merry crew of two: Sam Szekely (he/him). Our incredible, passionate, show-stopping new editor-in-chief is a fourth year senior double-majoring in Creative Writing and Political Science with a minor in Anthropology, and the 2024-25 copy editor for the Barometer, a fellow Orange Media Network publication.
Following just behind: Me, Tate Kraetzer (they/he/she). I’m proud to be both the new assistant editor and a second year majoring in Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Sciences — and if you’re in chemistry this year, I might just be your L.A. too.
Sam and I met as first-time PRISM volunteers during the 2024-25 school year and are excited to take all we’ve learned into this coming edition. One of our primary goals is to expand the number and variety of the mediums published in PRISM, from music to dance to game design to writing and visual arts. If there’s art you make, there’s a way for us to publish it, trust and believe.
Another goal is to collaborate more with the other media groups here at OMN and with you, our readers! Tell us what you want to see from us this year and we’ll try our best to deliver.
Or, become one of us! PRISM would not be what it is without the work of our incredible volunteers — if writing blog posts, recording podcasts, reviewing submissions, or learning the ins-and-outs of publishing and tabling for a print magazine interests you, come visit us to learn more! Our volunteer meetings will be held every Monday from 6-7 p.m., the first of which will be on October 6 and serve as an interest meeting for new and returning volunteers. And you can join our discord at just the click of a button, right here. We hope to see you around!
Sam and I are so excited to be working together to bring you a new edition of this lovely magazine we call PRISM, but even more so, we’re so very excited to be working with you to build this magazine from the ground up. So submit, submit, submit! And help us make this magazine what we know it can be.
Do you see the vision yet?
