Tosca Ruotolo, Editor

Are you a fan of supporting small businesses? Do you love to shop at lesser-known, alternative bookstores? So do we! The Prism community has collected a list of our favorite indie bookstores across Oregon and organized them into a handy map.

These are our personal favorite small bookstores featured on the map:

Browser’s Bookstore – Corvallis

This local favorite is home to rare, collectable and cult classic novels, comics, coffee table toppers and more. The Corvallis location will be closing in 2022 (sadly!) so check it out before it’s too late!

Cosmic Monkey Comics – Portland

This Portland comic shop hosts new editions of comics, rare collectables, manga and art supplies. “We delight in filling special orders and searching for the issues you need to fill those empty holes in your collection and your soul.” – Cosmic Monkey staff

The Corvallis Book Bin – Corvallis

Another local business close to our hearts, the Corvallis Book Bin is the perfect spot to find your next favorite book, along with fun t-shirts, stickers, calendars, stationary and more.

Annie Bloom’s Books – Portland

This sweet shop is located at the heart of Multnomah Village, and is host to Portlander’s favorite bookshop cat, Molly! Head over for good books, reasonable prices and a cute furry friend.

Wallace Books – Portland

This independent bookstore is located in the lovely neighborhood of Sellwood, Portland.  “Wallace Books is your source for new and used books, both the hottest new best sellers, and that quirky, hard-to-find out-of-print treasure!” – Wallace Books Staff

Cannon Beach Book Co – Cannon Beach

This beloved beach-side bookstore is a lovely spot for classic novels, children’s literature and a vast collection of local artists’ work. If you’re seeking an ocean getaway, Cannon Beach Book Co is the spot for you.

Bloomsbury Books – Ashland

Located near the Southern Oregon University campus, Bloomsbury Books is one of the jewels of Ashland Take a look at their fantastic blog and check out their new podcast here!

Tree House Books – Ashland

Like Bloomsbury, Tree House Books is a beloved spot in the city of Ashland. This bookstore has a great selection of children’s books for all ages!  “Welcome to our magical world. We are TreeHouse Books, a tiny bookstore with a big heart in the wonderful town of Ashland Oregon (known to magicals as Ashlandia.)” – Tree House Books staff

Lucy’s Books – Astoria

Calling itself the “bookstore Tardis”, Lucy’s Books is a wonderful spot for those visiting the tourist town of Astoria. Stop by after saying hi to the Astoria seals!

Artifacts : Good Books & Bad Art – Hood River

One of my personal favorite small bookshops, Artifacts has hundreds of indie graphic novels, creative local art, new novels and lots of kitschy gifts.

If you have any favorite indie bookstores that we didn’t include on our map, tell us in the comments. If you check out any of our favorite shops, let us know!
