Art Feature: “Yellow Flowers” by Kyra Smith

Yellow Flowers by Kyra Smith. Ink and Colored Pencil.

Biography: I am from a small town in Washington and moved to Corvallis this fall to start my first year here at Oregon State University. I am majoring in geology. Outside of my schoolwork, I like to spend time creating art, reading, or taking walks outside. I have been enjoying my time at OSU so much and cannot wait to see what happens in the future.

Artist Statement: The art that I create is inspired by many things. I have been around artwork and creative people from a young age, as many members of my family are artists as well. They all inspire me with their works, and especially my mother has been a huge inspiration for me. I enjoy using many different mediums, but I am particularly drawn to pen and paper, as well as watercolor. To generate ideas for new pieces, I like to take walks outside, as nature is a big part of the art I create.
