Hustle
Camille Smith
We must get to our next destination as quickly as possible
It is the mission of life. Sprint!
Don’t take time to frolic through the meadows or gaze at the horizon
Sprint!
You cannot be late
Even with no ticking clock above our head besides the one that counts down seconds till our last
breath.
We hustle to the next event
Endangering others either with our whiplash movements or even just our hurried commentary
So self consumed we hardly even blink
Sprint!
Did you see that?? It was gorgeous
A light of gold hew launched across the sky, over-taking all sunsets we have ever seen!
As if trumpets launched out of the clouds themselves, and the heavens opened their gates
Angels shouted down at us with joy and song, creating a room of life!
Everlasting and springing at us, so many of us jumped up and reached
But you were sprinting
You missed it
It was too late.
Montana Burack
Biography: Hello! My name is Montana Burack, and I am a second-year student studying Environmental Sciences. After taking a photography course in high school, I began taking photos on outings with family and friends. Since then, I have enjoyed pursuing photography as a hobby. I try to fit some time to snap photos into the busy chaos of my life since photography brings me a lot of hapiness! In my free time, I enjoy hiking, skiing, snowboarding, reading, looking at old atlases, talking to myself, and daydreaming.
Artist Statement: A vision is defined as “the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination or wisdom.” Who is more equipped to create visions than kids with their crazy, creative imaginations unencumbered by the expectations of reality?
Camille Smith
Biography: I am a current student at Oregon State University and studying Animal Sciences. I moved to Corvallis from Prineville, Oregon, but was born and raised in Rainier, Oregon. Although I am a STEM major, writing has always been a significant part of my life. It has always allowed a safe space for me to release my ideas/ thoughts that I can’t verbally express, while also encouraging a spin of creativity. A lot of my work is inspired by God and the impact that he has made on my life, but I also love creating pieces that are inspired by Love.
Artist Statement: I was sitting in between lectures studying when I noticed the quickness of the room around me. Lectures just got out, and people were weaving around each other, most in their own little world. And with noticing that I wrote Hustle. Hoping to capture the rush that people are in, despite the destination we will all reach one day.
